Sandyford is a confidential space for young people who are sexually active or want information on relationships and sexual activity. Our dedicated Young People Service offers a mixture of drop-in and appointment clinics in the Greater Glasgow area for any 13-17 year-olds who want support or care for their sexual health.
Why is it important to keep on top of my sexual health?
Having sex without a condom can lead to unintended pregnancy and puts you at risk of contracting a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Not all STI's have symptoms, so you might not know you have one. This means you can unknowingly pass it on to others. And, if left untreated, some STI's can have severe impacts on your physical health and can even impact your chances of becoming pregnant in the future. This is why it's so important to use a condom and to understand your other contraceptive options (such as the Pill), and to test regularly for STI's.

What can I expect when I visit?
The different Sandyford clinics might all look a bit different, but at all clinics you will see a friendly doctor or nurse. All staff are non-judgemental and there to help you. All services are confidential and no information will be shared with your GP or anyone else unless we need to do so
For our Drop In services:You can attend anytime between 4:30-7pm at the clinic. When you arrive please go to the reception desk where one of the receptionists will take some details from you like your name and date of birth. You will then sit in the waiting area until it is your turn to be seen. If the walk-in clinic is very busy on the night you come and you need to wait a while before a nurse can see you the receptionists will let you know. If a lot of people have already come to the walk-in clinic that night before you then the clinic may already be full and we might not be able to see you that night so it is always best to arrive as early as possible.
For our Appointment-only services:You can book these appointments though calling Sandyford (0141 211 8130, Monday to Friday 8.45 am to 4.15 pm) oronlinethrough the Sandyford website. When you arrive please go to the reception desk where one of the receptionists will take some details from you like your name and date of birth. You will then sit in the waiting area until it is your turn to be seen. You will usually be seen at your appointment time so please come on time as if you are late we might not be able to see you.
FAQs
I had sex without a condom but didn't come to the clinic straight away - is it too late to come get tested?
It's best to talk to us as soon as possible after having sex without a condom so we can check if you are eligible foremergency contraception (this is usually within 5 days of sex without contraception), test for pregnancy andSTI's. However, if you haven't been able to do this for whatever reason, we will never judge. Just be sure to book an appointment as soon as you can.
The video below from Govanhill Roma Youth Project shows you how you can get Emergency Contraception from your local pharmacy.
Will you tell my parents/teachers/doctor or anyone else that I have attended a clinic?
No, our services are confidential. We will always seek your permission before contacting anyone, with the only exception being if we have extreme concerns over your safety.
What if I am too nervous to come to a clinic?
We understand that this can be daunting, especially if you have never attended an appointment like this before! But please be assured that you will be met by friendly and non-judgemental staff who will be happy to answer any questions you may have in a discreet manner. And you can usually bring someone you trust with you if that makes you feel more comfortable.
Can I bring a friend or someone else with me?
You can bring a friend, family member, support worker or someone else you trust with you to your appointment. We usually see you alone at the start of the appointment to ask some questions in private, then your friend/family member can come into the appointment after that. Sometimes we might want to see you by yourself for the whole appointment – if this is the case we will explain why.
